Experiment about water movement

Preparatory activities:

Preparation of the necessary materials :

- a sheet of paper

-crayons

-scissors

- a basin of water

- template for the flower

Activities:

A flower is cut out of a sheet of paper.

The eight petals are colored red and green, then bend inward along the dotted lines.

The paper flower is placed on the surface of the water in the basin. Slowly, slowly, the flower opens.

The explanation lies in the penetration of water between the empty spaces found in the paper fibers and swells them. As a result, the folds straighten, making the flower open.

Usually the water moves down, but it can also go up through the empty spaces of the paper.

 Subsequent activities:

Free discussions based on the experiment.

 Results:

Student were satisfied by the result and the practical implementation of some theoretical information.
